Java the Hut Coffee Shop and Outdoor Gear Store opened in 2003 as a cozy coffee and tea shop that offers a wide variety of topographical maps, Colorado books & calendars and outdoor gear. This is a very outdoor friendly small business! The owners, Brian and Vi, have hiked over 30 of Colorado's fourteeners (mountains with an elevation of 14,000+ above sea level) and it's not uncommon to spot them discussing trailhead locations, hiking logistics and other issues.

Plus, their coffee, gourmet drinks and array of snacks are pretty darn good too! Enjoy whatever you buy in their newly redone building on Highway 24 (across from the Dinosaur Resource Center). You'll enjoy their numerous selection of couches in an all-hardwood floor setting.

The folks at Java The Hut Cafe haven't paid a cent for this little commercial. Simply put, this webmaster frequents the place often and believes in supporting locally-owned businesses.
